«Sami po sebe» («Alone») is a visual exploration of everyday life in places that geographer Vladimir Kagansky, the author of the accompanying text, has long identified as the other side of the landscape fabric – the Inner Periphery. Photography took place in the summer of 2021 in seven regions of the central part of Russia: Bryansk, Kursk, Kaluga, Moscow, Tver, Smolensk and Novgorod region.
